A prayer for Persecuted Christian Families – Arise Africa
Heavenly Father,
Give us practical solutions and guide us in supporting persecuted families.
Help us to be more aware, more intentional and more prayerful.
Whilst we go about our lives, remind us that we have opportunities through our church, charities, and organisations to help and support those in need. Lead us by your Spirit and guide us to take action.
Our words of intention are not enough, show us how we can make an impact on the suffering families both practically and spiritually.
Guide us in our prayers, in our giving and in our voices. Let us speak for those who cannot Lord. To stand in prayer.
We pray for the violence to stop. Continue to bring healing Jesus.
Thank you for the positive impact that the Arise Africa Campaign is having. We pray that more Christians will support this campaign.
Equip us with knowledge, so that we can pray and follow the ‘call to action’ –
“To stand in the gap, to advocate and to see change.”
“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)
As I read the devastation, families ripped apart, trauma and tragic situations Christian families face, my heart shouts, ‘Lord’. My words feel small, yet I know I must – and want to – say more.
So we continue to pray, knowing that our prayers are heard, trusting that God is listening and answering in His way, even when we can’t see ahead.
Our faith keeps us pressing into our Lord, remembering our brothers and sisters and their families, knowing that if the circumstances were reversed, we would want their heartfelt cries too.
Praying for Spiritual, Physical and Emotional Healing for Persecuted Children and Parents
Heavenly Father,
Our hearts pour out for these children and parents. Please meet their every need. Give them supernatural strength to walk through the trauma they face. Sustain them physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Shine your light on their faces, and give them a tangible awareness of your love so that they would know deep in their hearts that you have not abandoned them, Lord.
You see and know the dangers they face Lord. Please make a way for them. Show them how to hold on tightly to you through all they have faced, and all they might fear.
Remind them that you are always with them – that you will wipe away their tears, and that they are never alone. Let them know your compassion when they struggle and battle through painful thoughts and sorrow.
We pray, by the power of your Holy Spirit that the hearts of the attackers would turn towards you Jesus. Show them that they must release the captives Lord, and let Your will be done. Open the eyes of their hearts and let them see you through the darkness.
We are fearfully and wonderfully made! When we are seeking hope, we can look to the bible to encourage us, transform us and comfort us. Our Creator – God, knows everything we are going through and all of our needs. We can trust in Him. Praise Jesus!
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
I will not put my trust in man, but only trust in Jesus. Deliver me from fear, Lord, and from my enemies. What prowls around and comes to steal and destroy – my God will let no harm come my way.
I wait patiently for the Lord; my soul waits, and in His word do I hope. O Israel, hope in the Lord. For with the Lord there is lovingkindness, and with Him is abundant redemption. (Psalm 130:5-7)
The Lord is my keeper, my shade, and protection from evil. Thank You for being my guard and watching my coming and going. Nothing can separate me from your love.
My soul thirsts for you. I call on you, and you answer.
I will choose to take my eyes off my circumstances and seek your face, your peace, and hope in you. I will remember that you are in control and all that you have done – your wonderful works.
I praise you. you are my hope and my salvation, and I lift up my eyes to you. you, Lord, are the lifter of my head.
Across the world, many Christians face persecution every day. Families, churches, and individuals experience devastating hardships simply because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Yet even in the midst of suffering, believers are strengthened by the knowledge that they are not standing alone.
They stand firm in the power and presence of Jesus.
One of the most powerful ways we can encourage and support persecuted believers is through prayer.
When we unite together in prayer and believe in its power to bring hope, protection, and courage, we acknowledge that we are one body in Christ. No believer has to suffer alone.
Together, through prayer, we can stand in faith and ask God to bring comfort, protection, and transformation in the lives of those who are suffering for their faith.
Praying for the Persecuted Church Around the World
Christians around the world face many forms of persecution, including discrimination, imprisonment, violence, and displacement. Families may lose homes, livelihoods, or even loved ones because they choose to follow Jesus.
Despite these hardships, the persecuted church continues to grow in faith, courage, and perseverance.
Prayer connects us with believers and allows us to stand spiritually alongside them, asking God to strengthen, protect, and sustain them through every trial.
Praying with Knowledge and Understanding
Equipping ourselves with knowledge about Christian persecution helps guide our prayers with greater intention and compassion.
There are several organisations that share updates and information about persecuted believers and how we can support them through prayer and advocacy.
One such organisation is Open Doors, an international ministry that supports persecuted Christians worldwide. Through research, reports, and resources such asthe World Watch List, Open Doors helps believers understand where persecution is happening and how to pray effectively.
By staying informed, we can pray with deeper awareness and become a voice for those who cannot safely speak for themselves.
On this page, you will find Prayers for the Persecuted Church written to encourage believers to intercede for those facing hardship because of their faith.
These prayers have been written and inspired through personal prayer, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit and using God’s Word as the foundation and anchor.
Many of the prayers are also written with an understanding of current persecution taking place around the world, informed by the reports shared by Open Doors.
At times, the prayers may focus on specific situations affecting persecuted believers. This helps us pray more intentionally for particular circumstances and communities in need.
How You Can Help the Persecuted Church
Supporting persecuted Christians can take many forms, including:
– Praying regularly for persecuted believers
– Staying informed about global Christian persecution
– Supporting ministries that serve persecuted communities
If you would like to give, you can support organisations that provide aid, advocacy, and encouragement to persecuted Christians around the world.
Heavenly Father, our hearts cry out for our brothers and sisters, for families and children facing all kinds of persecution in the world. We praise you for your faithfulness, we praise you because you are Holy, and we can trust your plans – even when we don’t understand. We believe in your promises, and thank you that you are our Shepherd, guiding us in the path of righteousness.
Lord, we pray for your persecuted children. Protect them from harm, and strengthen them with your word and presence. Give them the courage to stand strong and be a light to the world. Move their hearts towards you so they have steadfastness and resilience to not be shaken.
Shine your light in all the dark places, casting out all the evil that tries to steal, destroy and silence voices. Let us be united in our prayers and our voices. Bring your peace, love, truth and unity. Be their rock Lord.
